Here is a simple solution that I came up with to manage my desktop workflow on my laptop. I took the idea of a magnet or production board, created some customized folder icons and can literally track each project from start to finish. Just install the .jpg in the pictures folder and set as your desktop image. The file and image are formatted for a 1440×990 display, but you could easily change it.
